#1 Scrapfly Alternative
Scrapfly’s 1-credit request is a datacenter fetch with no browser. With rendering on residential proxies a page costs 30 credits, and its Unblocker starts at 30+ on protected sites, plus target fees it does not publish. Context.dev bills 1 credit per page with rendering, proxies, and anti-bot handling included: $0.79 per 1,000 pages on Pro, not $3.00.
1,000 protected pages, rendered in a browser
$99 and $100 Pro plans, October 2026 list prices
Scrapfly bills 1 credit for a datacenter fetch with no browser, 6 with rendering, and 30 with rendering on residential proxies; its Unblocker starts at 30+. Context.dev bills 1 credit for every page. Static pages are cheaper on Scrapfly: $0.10 per 1,000 on Pro.
Why switch
Scrapfly and Context.dev both scrape, crawl, and render JavaScript behind anti-bot systems. Context.dev charges 1 credit for the page Scrapfly bills at 30 or more, with five times the concurrency on the $99 and $100 Pro plans and web search built in.
- Key difference
1 credit per rendered, protected page, not 30 or more
Scrapfly’s 1-credit price covers a datacenter request with no browser. JavaScript rendering adds 5 credits, residential proxies cost 25, and its Unblocker “starts at 30+ credits per request” on protected sites, plus target fees it does not publish. Context.dev runs every scrape with a browser, managed proxies, and anti-bot handling for 1 credit. On the Pro plans that is $0.79 per 1,000 pages against $3.00.
- Capacity
125,000 protected pages for $99, not 33,333 for $100
Context.dev Pro is $99 a month for 125,000 credits and 100 concurrent requests. Scrapfly Pro is $100 a month for 1,000,000 credits and 20 concurrent requests, which covers 33,333 pages at 30 credits each. Higher up, Scrapfly Startup ($250) allows 50 concurrent requests and Enterprise ($500) allows 100, against 250 on Context.dev Growth and 500 on Scale.
- Overage
Overage at $1.80 per 1,000 pages, not $10.50
Past its quota, Scrapfly Pro bills $3.50 per 10,000 credits, 3.5 times its prepaid rate, so 1,000 protected pages at 30 credits cost $10.50. Pay-as-you-go is capped at 50% of the monthly quota by default, and Discovery stops at its quota. Context.dev Pro overage is $1.80 per 1,000 credits, which is $1.80 per 1,000 pages of any kind.
- Billing
No bandwidth slices or unpublished target fees
Scrapfly bills HTML over 1 MB, browser traffic over 3 MB, and downloads after the first 1 MB in 100 KB slices, at 3 credits each on datacenter proxies and 10 on residential, so a 5 MB PDF over residential proxies costs 400 credits. Its Unblocker docs add that specific targets and shields carry fees that are not publicly documented. Context.dev bills a page at 1 credit and parses PDF, DOCX, PPT, and XLSX files for 1 credit plus 1 per OCR page.
- Search
Web search that reads the result pages
Scrapfly has no web search endpoint; its search and prompt calls only query pages you already crawled. Context.dev Web Search returns ranked results with the passages relevant to your query from all 10 result pages for 2 credits, or full page Markdown for 11. Answers returns a sourced answer in your JSON shape for 10 credits.
- Also included
Your JSON Schema, prebuilt parsers, and monitors on one key
Pass a JSON Schema and get a typed object back for 5 credits; Scrapfly’s LLM extraction takes a natural-language prompt instead. Prebuilt parsers cover Google Maps reviews (up to 1,000), app store reviews, G2, and Instagram, and monitors re-check pages for 1 credit per run with webhooks. The Brand API returns logos and company data for 10 credits per lookup.
What one request really costs
What 1,000 requests cost on each Pro plan, by how the page has to be fetched. Scrapfly’s price changes with the proxy pool, browser, and anti-bot handling a site needs; Context.dev’s does not.

- Protected pages use the request a JavaScript-rendered, bot-protected page needs. On Scrapfly that is residential proxies (25 credits) plus browser rendering (5), 30 credits, the floor its Unblocker documents (“starts at 30+”); unpublished target fees and bandwidth over 3 MB are not included. On Context.dev it is 1 credit. Context.dev ranges run from yearly to monthly billing; Scrapfly publishes monthly prices only.
- Scrapfly’s cheapest request, a datacenter fetch without a browser, is 1 credit: $0.15 per 1,000 on Discovery, $0.10 on Pro and Startup, and $0.09 on Enterprise. With JavaScript rendering on datacenter proxies it is 6 credits ($0.90, $0.60, $0.60, and $0.55).
- Scrapfly prices, credits, concurrency, and overage are from scrapfly.io/pricing; credit costs are from scrapfly.io/docs/scrape-api/billing and the Unblocker docs. Overage is $3.50, $2.00, and $1.20 per 10,000 credits on Pro, Startup, and Enterprise; Discovery has none. Free plan concurrency (5) is from scrapfly.io/products/web-scraping-api.
- Scrapfly also bills bandwidth: responses over 1 MB (3 MB with a browser) are billed in 100 KB slices at 3 credits on datacenter proxies and 10 on residential (scrapfly.io/docs/scrape-api/billing).

Which one fits
Both render JavaScript and get past bot protection. These are the cases where the choice is clear. For formats, pricing, and code, see the Context.dev web scraping API.
Choose Context.dev if
- Your targets need a browser and residential IPs or anti-bot handling, and you want 1 credit per page instead of 30 or more.
- You want more concurrency per dollar: 100 concurrent requests on Pro against 20 on Scrapfly Pro.
- Your agents need web search with page content, JSON Schema extraction, document parsing, and change monitors from one API.
- You want to predict the bill from page count alone, without per-target fees, bandwidth slices, or a 3.5x overage rate.
Choose Scrapfly if
- Your pages are static or load on datacenter IPs. Scrapfly Pro costs $0.10 per 1,000 pages without a browser and $0.60 with one, against $0.79 on Context.dev.
- You drive a remote browser with Playwright or Puppeteer over CDP, with captcha solving and live human takeover. Context.dev runs up to five actions before a capture.
- You need to pick the proxy pool yourself (datacenter, residential, or Tor), mobile device personas (in early access), or a forward-proxy endpoint for tools like Screaming Frog.
- You want a Rust SDK, Scrapy middleware, 81 open-source example scrapers, or 5 concurrent requests on the free plan.
A few things to know.
More details in the API documentation.
What is the best Scrapfly alternative?
Context.dev is a Scrapfly alternative for teams scraping JavaScript-heavy or bot-protected sites at volume. Every scrape includes a browser, managed proxies, and anti-bot handling for 1 credit, where Scrapfly charges 30 credits for a rendered page on residential proxies and 30+ with its Unblocker. It also adds web search with page content, JSON Schema extraction, change monitors, and document parsing. If you drive a remote browser over CDP or mostly scrape pages that load on datacenter IPs, Scrapfly is the better fit.
How does Scrapfly’s credit pricing compare with Context.dev?
Scrapfly sells cheap credits ($0.10 per 1,000 on Pro) and multiplies them per request: 1 for a datacenter fetch without a browser, 6 with JavaScript rendering, 25 for residential proxies, 30 for both, and 30+ on protected targets. Context.dev credits cost more ($0.79 per 1,000 on Pro), but a page is always 1 credit with rendering, proxies, and anti-bot included. Pages that load on datacenter IPs are cheaper on Scrapfly, with or without rendering; rendered, protected pages cost $0.79 per 1,000 on Context.dev against $3.00.
What does the Scrapfly Unblocker (formerly ASP) cost?
Scrapfly says the Unblocker “starts at 30+ credits per request, scaling with target complexity” and costs nothing on targets that do not block. It can switch a request to residential proxies (25 credits) and a browser (+5) on its own, and its docs say specific targets and shields carry fees that are not publicly documented. You can cap a request with cost_budget, but a budget below the target’s minimum makes the request fail.
Does either API charge for failed requests?
Both skip most failures. Scrapfly does not bill failed scrapes with eligible status codes, but it bills codes such as 400, 404, 410, and 422, and its fairness policy bills everything once more than 30% of traffic fails within an hour. Context.dev does not charge when every output of a scrape fails or for 429, 408, and 5xx responses; a target 404 keeps the 1-credit base charge, and failed batch pages are refunded when the batch settles.
Can I migrate from Scrapfly to Context.dev?
Yes. Drop render_js, proxy_pool, and unblocker (or asp), since every Context.dev scrape includes them. format=markdown maps to the Markdown output, screenshots to the screenshot output, js_scenario steps to up to five sharedParams.actions, country to sharedParams.country, and extraction_prompt to the JSON output with your JSON Schema. Crawler jobs map to Crawl or to Batches of up to 100,000 URLs, with SDKs for TypeScript, Python, Go, Ruby, and PHP.
When is Scrapfly the better choice?
Scrapfly is cheaper for pages that load on datacenter IPs: 1 credit, or $0.10 per 1,000 on Pro, and 6 credits ($0.60) with rendering. It is also the better fit if you drive a remote browser with Playwright or Puppeteer (Cloud Browser bills 1 credit per 30 seconds plus bandwidth), need Tor or a forward-proxy endpoint, or want a Rust SDK or Scrapy integration.
Does Context.dev have a web search API?
Yes. POST /web/search returns ranked results for 1 credit per 10 results and can attach the passages relevant to your query from every result page (1 more credit per 10 results) or each page as Markdown (1 credit per page returned). Ten results with highlights cost 2 credits; with full Markdown, 11. Scrapfly has no web search or SERP endpoint, so you would scrape a search engine yourself at its per-request credit cost.
Does Context.dev offer a cloud browser or proxy mode like Scrapfly?
No. Context.dev is a managed scraping API: the browser and proxies run behind each request, and there is no CDP endpoint, proxy port, or proxy pool choice. You pick a country per request, run up to five browser actions before a capture, and sign in with saved browser profiles on paid plans. If you need to drive the browser yourself, Scrapfly Cloud Browser fits that job.
