#1 Decodo Alternative
Scrape, crawl, map, and search the web with rendering and anti-bot proxies in every 1-credit page. Decodo’s Web Data API bills a scrape at four rates on its $99 plan: $0.30 per 1,000 on standard proxies, $0.60 with JavaScript, $0.70 on its default premium pool, and $1.10 premium with JavaScript. Context.dev Pro is $0.79 on any page.
1,000 protected pages, rendered in a browser
$99 plans, October 2026 list prices
Decodo sets the rate by proxy pool and rendering, and premium is its default pool. Its $99 plan card counts 330,000 pages at the $0.30 standard rate. Plain static pages that need no rendering or premium proxies are cheaper on Decodo.
Why switch
Decodo and Context.dev both scrape, crawl, and map the web through an API. Decodo publishes four rates per request, set by proxy pool and rendering; Context.dev charges one rate for a rendered page through managed proxies, so the price you test with is the price you pay on protected sites.
- Key difference
One rate per page, not four set by proxy pool and rendering
Decodo’s Web Data API bills /scrape at four rates, set by the proxy_pool and headless parameters. On its $99 plan they are $0.30 per 1,000 for standard proxies, $0.60 with JavaScript, $0.70 on the default premium pool, and $1.10 for premium with JavaScript, so the 330,000 pages on the plan card become 90,000 rendered premium pages. Context.dev Pro is $99 for 125,000 credits, and every 1-credit scrape renders through managed proxies: $0.79 per 1,000 pages.
- Billing
Screenshots and browser actions at the same page price
On Decodo, a screenshot and any browser action need headless mode, which bills at the +JS rate, every site template runs on the premium pool, and targeting outside the standard pool’s 8 countries needs premium too. On Context.dev, Markdown, HTML, and a screenshot cost the same 1 credit, and browser actions cost 2 credits on paid plans. A scrape where every output fails costs nothing, and 429 and 5xx responses are never billed.
- Extraction
JSON against your schema, not CSS and XPath rules
Add the json format with a JSON Schema up to 50 KB and get a typed object back for 5 credits per page, on any site. Decodo returns parsed data from 39 site templates, and everywhere else you write parsing instructions with CSS or XPath selectors. Context.dev also includes prebuilt parsers for Google Maps, app stores, G2 reviews, and Instagram.
- Batches
100,000 URLs per batch, results kept for 180 days
Batches accept up to 100,000 URLs with every Scrape output, including JSON extraction and screenshots. Unsuccessful pages are refunded when the batch settles, and results stay available for 180 days. Decodo keeps async and crawl results for 24 hours, accepts one batch submission per second, and ties batch size to your plan’s rate limit.
- Coverage
Logged-in pages, documents, and change monitors
Browser profiles let you sign in once and reuse the saved session on paid plans; Decodo’s usage policy excludes post-login content. The same Scrape endpoint parses PDFs, DOCX, PPT, XLSX, and about 40 other formats, and monitors re-check a page for 1 credit per run and call your webhook when it changes. Decodo’s Web Data API docs cover neither document parsing nor change monitoring.
- Reliability
One API surface, five SDKs, and 90 days of notice on changes
Context.dev publishes an OpenAPI document for every endpoint, ships SDKs for TypeScript, Python, Ruby, Go, and PHP, and gives at least 90 days of notice before deprecating anything. Decodo offers TypeScript, Python, and Go SDKs and publishes OpenAPI only for its proxy account API. Its scraping API was replaced twice in 2026: a new token when Core and Advanced were retired, then a new key and base URL for Web Data API in October.

- Rendered protected pages assume Decodo’s premium proxy pool with JavaScript rendering, the setup its docs recommend for protected targets, and 1 credit per page on Context.dev, where rendering, managed proxies, and anti-bot handling are always on. Context.dev ranges run from yearly to monthly billing; Decodo lists monthly plans only.
- Decodo bills /scrape at four rates on each plan. On the $99 plan they are $0.30 per 1,000 standard, $0.60 standard with JavaScript, $0.70 premium (the default pool), and $1.10 premium with JavaScript; the $49 plan is $0.40 standard and $1.25 premium with JavaScript. Plan cards count pages at the standard rate (help.decodo.com/docs/web-data-api-billing).
- Decodo limits requests per second (50 on the $99 plan) and Context.dev limits concurrent requests (100 on Pro), so the two are not directly comparable. Plans of $499 and above sit under Decodo’s Enterprise tab (decodo.com/web-data-api/pricing).
- Decodo’s free plan is $5 of credit, about 10,000 standard requests or 3,333 rendered premium pages. Site templates always use the premium pool, and screenshots and browser actions bill at the rendering rate. Proxies and Site Unblocker are separate subscriptions billed per GB, per IP, or per request.

Which one fits
Both scrape protected sites through an API. These are the cases where the choice is clear. For formats, pricing, and code, see the Context.dev web scraping API.
Choose Context.dev if
- Your targets need JavaScript rendering and anti-bot handling, and you want one price per page: $0.79 per 1,000 on Pro versus $1.10 on Decodo’s $99 plan.
- You want typed JSON against your own schema from any site, not CSS or XPath rules.
- You scrape logged-in pages, parse PDFs and office files, or monitor pages for changes.
- You run large async jobs and want results kept for 180 days, with failed pages refunded.
Choose Decodo if
- You need a raw proxy network. Decodo sells residential, ISP, mobile, and datacenter proxies by the GB or by the IP; Context.dev has no proxy product.
- You need parsed Google SERP results, templates for Amazon, Walmart, Target, or TikTok Shop, or ChatGPT and Perplexity answers scraped at $1 per 1,000.
- Most of your pages are static, or your volume is small. Standard requests without rendering are $0.30 per 1,000 on the $99 plan, and a rendered premium page is $1.50 per 1,000 on the $19 plan, below Context.dev Developer.
- You crawl or map big sites in one job. Decodo’s /crawl takes up to 10,000 pages and /map returns up to 147,000 URLs per call; Context.dev crawls up to 500 pages per call and runs larger jobs as batches.
A few things to know.
More details in the API documentation.
What is the best Decodo alternative?
Context.dev is a Decodo alternative for teams that scrape JavaScript-heavy or protected sites through an API. Every scrape renders the page through managed proxies for 1 credit, so the price does not change with proxy pool or rendering mode: $0.79 per 1,000 pages on Pro, against $1.10 for a rendered premium page on Decodo’s $99 plan. It adds JSON extraction against your schema, browser profiles for logged-in pages, change monitors, and document parsing. If you need raw residential proxies, Google SERP JSON, or mostly static pages, Decodo is the better fit.
How does Decodo pricing work, and is there a multiplier?
Decodo’s Web Data API bills /scrape at one of four rates per 1,000 requests, set by proxy_pool (standard or premium) and headless (JavaScript rendering). On the $99 plan those rates are $0.30, $0.60, $0.70, and $1.10, and premium is the default pool. Decodo says it has no hidden multipliers, and the rates are published in its billing docs; its plan card’s 330,000 pages uses the $0.30 rate, and at the premium rendering rate the same $99 covers 90,000 pages. Context.dev bills 1 credit per scrape with rendering and proxies included, $0.79 per 1,000 pages on Pro.
What happened to Decodo’s Core and Advanced plans?
Until early 2026, Decodo sold its Web Scraping API as two separate subscriptions. Core returned HTML only, with no JavaScript rendering, no premium proxies, and 8 countries, from $0.32 down to $0.08 per 1,000 requests. Rendering, Markdown, parsing, and templates required Advanced, at $1.25 down to $0.95 per 1,000. Both are retired; the current Web Data API offers rendering on every plan and bills it per request through its +JS rates.
Is Decodo the same company as Smartproxy?
Yes. Smartproxy, founded in 2018, renamed itself Decodo on April 22, 2025, with the same company, team, and infrastructure. In October 2026 Decodo became part of Source, a Vilnius-based group that also includes Oxylabs, Webshare, ScrapingBee, and Honeygain.
Can I migrate from Decodo to Context.dev?
Most calls map directly. /scrape becomes POST /web/scrape without proxy_pool or headless, since rendering and proxies are always on, and Markdown output becomes the markdown format. /map becomes GET /web/urls, /crawl maps to Crawl (up to 500 pages per call, larger jobs through Batches), and async jobs map to Batches of up to 100,000 URLs. Site templates map to prebuilt parsers, the product output, or JSON extraction with your schema, and SDKs exist for TypeScript, Python, Ruby, Go, and PHP.
When is Decodo the better choice?
Choose Decodo when you need proxies you run yourself (residential from $2.75 per GB on the 100 GB plan), parsed Google SERP results, retailer templates for Amazon, Walmart, and Target, or ChatGPT and Perplexity answers scraped at $1 per 1,000. It is also cheaper for static pages that need no rendering, at $0.30 per 1,000 standard requests on the $99 plan, and at small volume: on its $19 plan a rendered premium page costs $1.50 per 1,000, below the $2.11 to $2.53 on Context.dev Developer. Proxyway’s 2025 report put Decodo among four APIs that opened protected targets more than 80% of the time.
Does Context.dev charge for failed requests?
No. If every requested output fails, the scrape costs nothing (a target that returns 404 still costs the base credit), and 429, 408, 5xx, and validation errors are never billed. Unsuccessful batch pages are refunded when the batch settles. Decodo does not bill its own 500, 524, and 613 failures, but its response-code table marks 4xx responses that return a body, including 403 and 429, as billed.
Does Context.dev sell proxies like Decodo?
No. Context.dev is a managed scraping API: you send a URL and get Markdown, HTML, screenshots, or JSON back, with proxies and rendering handled for you. There is no proxy port, per-GB plan, or IP pool for your own browsers. If you run Playwright or Scrapy against your own proxy pool, Decodo’s proxy products fit that model.
