How Brew Switched from Brandfetch and Microlink to Context.dev in a Day

Brew is building the future of agentic email marketing. Brew understands your brand, industry, and best practices to help any team launch email campaigns with confidence.

That promise starts with one input. A new user pastes a URL, and Brew reads the site and builds an entire email design system from it.

Everything downstream of that box, every color, logo, font, and image in every email Brew generates, depends on how well that first read goes. Getting it right took Thomas Park, Brew's CTO and cofounder, months.

"I've spent MONTHS building, perfecting, and optimizing our brand extraction flow. We used many different tools and services and patched them together until we found Context.dev. It was a no brainer and I am so happy we can consolidate on a service that is best in class for brands."

How they found Context.dev

Thomas found Context.dev the way a lot of good technical decisions get made: a friend mentioned it. In this case, Dominik, who builds Notra and had already migrated his own brand data layer over.

By that point Brew had tried most of what's out there. Their brand extraction flow ran on a patchwork of vendors, primarily Brandfetch and Microlink, with custom logic filling the gaps between them. It worked, but it was several integrations to maintain, several sets of failure modes to handle, and no single source of truth for what a brand actually looked like.

The use case

Brew doesn't just need a logo and a hex code. To generate an email that genuinely feels like a brand, it needs the whole identity: the logo system in both icon and wordmark form, the real color palette, the typefaces, a library of usable brand imagery, and the social links that belong in the footer.

Context.dev supplies that layer.

"Context.dev has an incredible arsenal of brand tooling that helps enrich our brand extraction to ensure all users generate emails and flows that feel like their brand. Everything from brand images, colors, fonts, and even social links are reliably provided by Context.dev."

The word doing the work there is reliably. A brand API that returns the right answer most of the time still forces you to build fallbacks, review queues, and manual overrides. Consistency is what lets Brew treat brand extraction as solved and move on to the parts of the product that differentiate it.

Switching in a day

The migration off Brandfetch and Microlink took a single day.

"Using Context.dev has been an absolute pleasure. They are by far the most accurate, fastest, and highest quality brand context API we've used, and we've used a lot! Their DX is world class and their team is a pleasure to work with. We were able to switch from Brandfetch and Microlink to Context.dev in a day."

Months of accumulated patchwork came out. One API went in.

The outcome

Brew's users now get an email design system that reads as unmistakably theirs from the first generation, whatever the brand happens to be.

A near-black, cinematic product brand comes through as a near-black, cinematic email system, down to the single coral accent reserved for CTAs:

Brew generating a dark cinematic email system for Hera, with a near-black canvas, oversized white headlines, and a coral accent used only on call-to-action buttons

A warm editorial finance brand comes through as a warm editorial finance brand, with its paper-toned canvas, serif headlines, and one decisive burnt-orange CTA:

Brew generating a warm editorial email system for Monk, with a paper-toned off-white canvas, serif headlines, and a burnt-orange call-to-action button

Same extraction pipeline, two identities that share almost nothing. That range is only possible when the underlying brand data is accurate enough to trust without a human checking it.

Key benefits

  • One-day migration: Brandfetch and Microlink replaced with a single Context.dev integration in a day.
  • One vendor instead of several: months of patched-together extraction logic consolidated onto one API.
  • Complete brand identities: logos, colors, fonts, brand imagery, and social links from the same call.
  • Reliability worth building on: consistent enough that Brew can generate on-brand emails without manual review.

Looking ahead

For Thomas and Brew, brand extraction is no longer a system to maintain. It's a dependency that works, which frees the team to spend its time on the agentic email marketing product it set out to build.
